Two different starting points
Cobot is an established global product with roots in Berlin's coworking scene. It is generally known for being straightforward: memberships, invoicing, bookings and a member portal, with a sensible set of integrations and an API. It has long been a favourite of independent, community-led spaces. As of its public pricing pages, plans are typically quoted in US dollars or euros by member count; check their site for current figures.
Coworking OS is also built by an independent operator, but in Hyderabad, for Indian conditions. It is priced in rupees, collects rent through UPI and Indian payment gateways, sends reminders from your WhatsApp Business number and raises invoices that carry your GSTIN.
These two are closer in spirit than most pairs on this site. Both come from operators rather than enterprise software companies, and both keep the product simple. The difference is mostly about country: which currency you bill in, how your members prefer to pay, and whether your invoices need a GSTIN.

Where Coworking OS is stronger
Indian payments. Every invoice carries a Pay Now link for UPI, cards and net banking through Razorpay, Cashfree or Zoho Payments. Cash and bank transfers are recorded by hand and receipted the same way. Part payments and arrears are tracked and carried forward.
WhatsApp reminders and inbox. Reminders come from your own WhatsApp Business number, and replies arrive in the inbox inside the app. For most members in India, email reminders are simply not read in time.
GST and accounts. GST invoices with your GSTIN and a separate series per centre, with books and P&L per bank account.
Agreements and the front office. Leads pipeline, proposals, e-signed leave-and-licence agreements, deposits and notice periods, helpdesk, assets, attendance, wallet credits and business email on your domain. Cobot is generally focused on memberships and bookings; Coworking OS covers more of the office.
Pricing and support. One rupee price ladder, every feature in every plan, unlimited staff users, 30-day trial with no card, and support on WhatsApp from people who run a coworking space.
Several buildings, one company. Centres let you run more than one building with its own invoice series, rooms and staff, while books and P&L stay per bank account across all of them.
Where Cobot is stronger
Track record outside India. Cobot has served independent spaces for many years, with a community of operators who know it well. If your space is in Europe or North America, local currency, tax and payment integrations are a better fit there.
API and integrations. Cobot is generally regarded as developer-friendly, with a public API and a set of integrations for access control, accounting and community tools. Coworking OS exports data any time and offers a website kit, but it does not aim to be an integration platform.
Multi-currency and multi-country. Operators billing in more than one currency are better served by a global product.
Simplicity for drop-in spaces. If your model is mostly day passes and bookings with little monthly rent, Cobot's membership-and-booking focus may be all you need.
Switching
Export members, plans and open invoices from Cobot as Excel or CSV and import them in Members. The set-up checklist walks you through centres, GSTIN, invoice series and your payment gateway. Rooms and desks are set up in an afternoon, and the public booking page can replace your current link straight away.
Try Coworking OS for 30 days free with no card, run one billing cycle alongside Cobot, and compare. Your data exports any time.
Is Coworking OS a Cobot alternative for India?
Yes. For an Indian space with 20 to 300 members, Coworking OS adds rupee pricing, UPI, WhatsApp reminders and GSTIN invoices that a global tool is not designed around. Outside India, Cobot is likely the better fit.
Does Coworking OS have an API?
Coworking OS focuses on built-in features and data export rather than a public API. If you need a specific integration, ask on WhatsApp; the team builds what Indian operators ask for most.
How long does set-up take?
Most spaces import members and cabins on day one and send live invoices within a week. The team helps with the import mapping on WhatsApp during the trial.
